Polls keep saying that San Diego is the place for singles (and even better a great place for dating). Just Ask Abbie (hey good idea, we'll have to start an Ask Abbie feature, because I believe she was made for this stuff), who spends a lot of her time thinking, talking and believing in the great power of relationships.

The Daily Aztec (newspaper of San Diego State University) knows that dating is a big deal in San Diego. And an even bigger deal, dating a "military person".

When you think of a military relationship, one of the first things that may come to mind is the long distance. However, a military relationship has much more to deal with than just distance. The two people involved in the relationship have to endure possible changes and restrictions that the life of a military person imposes.

But it's not all bad, dating a military man might just mean some really great, hot, hard core... discipline.

Many San Diego State women said that one of the leading characteristics they longed for in a partner was discipline. Psychology junior Kristina Caprara has been in a committed relationship with an active duty marine for a year and a half, but has known him for eight years because they met in high school."The Marines made him step up and be more responsible," she said. "I was very proud when he came back with honorary awards after spending seven months in Iraq."
