She told me about being the diligent worker that she is, how she headed out in the morning to her job only to realize it was raining ash outside of her house.
"I thought, this is weird, what is this?!" This is Lori's first big San Diego fire but she seemed to be taking it pretty well.
On her way to work the 15 was basically deserted. She made it to her desk and started her day. A little while later her boss came by "What are you doing here? We closed the office for the day."
"We did?" Apparently there was some kind of phone tree but nobody told her.
"Go home."
"I have a few things that I need to get done."
"Oh well, go home." So Lori, diligent workerbee, packed her things and went home. She's been inside, checking on the news and keeping up much as the rest of us are. I passed on the news that Vanessa's house has been volunteered as headquarters for those that need to evacuate.
"Good to know. I'm sure it'll all be fine."
It was good to hear her voice any way. Of course we had to make it quick, because we need to stay off cell phones.
"Don't go to work tomorrow!" I told her.
"Really? Are you sure?" She's such a good worker.
