A quick morning fire update (and other resources for your fire news)

Though he thought he was going to court today, Cat Dirt Sez is still on the live blogging fire duty. Check it out, if you need information it's going up constantly.

Also Sign on San Diego's fire blog is up and running (yesterday it was having some problems and moved to blogspot).

It looks like 1000 homes have been lost with 300,000 people evacuated from various areas throughout San Diego. It looks like the fires aren't going to let up any time soon with winds remaining strong and temperatures high. Latest news on the blogosphere:

Scripps Ranch is still off limits.
Condor facility was burned at the Wild Animal Park, but the Condors had already been moved to a safer place.
The San Pasqual Academy (housing foster kids) has sustained severe damage.

East Lake Chula Vista is on mandatory evacuation. So are parts of Del Mar.

And here comes the Department of Homeland Security.

Road closures this morning:
* State Route 67 between Scripps Poway Parkway and Highland Valley Road* State Route 76, Valley Center to SR-79* State Route 78, Haverford Road to Santa Ysabel and westbound at Banner Grade* State Route R-79, SR-78 to SR-76* State Route 94, Steele Canyon Road to SR-188* State Route 188 closed in both directions

Stay at home if you can, stay off cell phones, stay glued to the TV.

As far as San Diego travellers (I know you're out there):

CNN reports this morning that Airlines are offering resheduling and changing of flights. Each airline has their own particular rules/ regulations and deals. Check with them for the most updated information.

Last reported American, Continental and United are waving change fees thru October 25. Continental will wave extra fare costs if you reschedule your flight. United is allowing rescheduling seven days from the original departure (gee thanks) but you may have to pay for a higher fare (COME ON UNITED). Southwest is going on a day by day basis and Delta is letting you rebook if requested.
