The council discussed the possibility of relying on citizens to self-regulate and asking authorities for help when necessary, but did not detail enforcement for the draft ordinance. Those issues are likely to be ironed out when the council adopts the law early next year. The council was looking at two options last night, including one that would impose a blanket prohibition on smoking in public, but it chose the option that could be more easily enforced.
So I'm a hypocrite because I don't mind smoking being banned on beaches, (just like I wouldn't mind girls chatting loudly on their cell phones about the guys they are dating and how "he totally said I'm not allowed to fall in love with him, what does that mean?!") but I guess in the effort of not being a hypocrite... man these beach bans are trendy.
