Over Thanksgiving my brother came for dinner and started telling me about the finer points of Ron Paul's platform for running. "He's the only guy I'd vote for." And then Lori started telling me about how she was going to check out Ron Paul, to see what he had to say. And then my Mother In Law started telling my parents how much they would love Ron Paul (and started telling me how I should really rinse out the cups before I put them in the dishwasher).
The point is, Ron Paul is every where and now he's gone and won second place in the straw poll vote in San Diego. SECOND, behind Mitt Romney, but ahead of that other guy (9/11! 9/11!). Any who, should the people who paid $125 to have dinner at a country club and hypothetically vote on the Presidential race, Ron Paul would be the runner up and not actually be the President but he'd still be number 2! The $125 per-ticket event was beautifully conducted, and boasted very fine finger foods, live keyboard music, and not too many speeches. From my perspective, all eight of the presidential candidates, including Dr. Paul, were spoken of with honor and respect. About one hour ago, the results of the straw poll vote were announced at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, here in San Diego county.
117 - Mitt Romney
73 - Ron Paul
51 - Rudy Guliani
36 - Duncan Hunter
14 - Mike Huckabee
12 - John McCain
10 - Fred Thompson
0 - Tom Tancredo

The organizers of this event are certainly to be congratulated for their style and class.
And we congratulate them for their fine finger foods, style and class. And for making Rudy Guliani freak out and wonder who the hell this Ron Paul guy is any way. And to John McCain, yeah, um, this is awkward.
