Hey, no need to head to LA, just head to Downtown San Diego for your fix.

According to the New York Times 53 Places to Go in 2008, not only to you have to go to Silt and Iran (what Axis of Evil, we've got expensive tours to go on!) but you also need to head on over to (number 44) The Hard Rock Hotel in good old downtown San Diego because they have Nobu and Cindy Crawford likes to go there and there's even a Pinkberry all under one roof!

It'll render a visit to LA almost totally obsolete if we can get Britney to come, visit a Starbucks, put on a pink wig and flash the Paparazzi.

Same Girl, Different Color: Hard Rock Hotel Opening, Cindy Crawford was there! (And her husband).

So while I was over there on the Street Blog looking at pictures of Cindy Crawford (and her husband) at the opening of The Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown my eye stopped on the above picture of the event. And the conversation went like this:

Me: Do you think these girls know that they are wearing the same dress in different colors?

My Husband: I don't know.

Me: Look, do you think they planned that?

(He finally takes a look at the picture)

Me: See, it's the same dress, different color.

My Husband: Actually, that's basically just the same girl, different color.

Ba dum dum.

I didn't think I'd go there but then Defamer went there so now I'm going there

Because if Defamer goes there then you have to go there if you're going to be in with the in crowd who was also probably there. Big news, Cindy Crawford was here, in San Diego, a little while ago, everybody saw her, some partied with her, others oogled at her and though she looked awesome. And then Cindy Crawford went home, so there.

Oh, and Ashley Simpson was there too.

The Reviews are Trickling In: Hard Rock Hotel is Okay

Not wonderful, not amazing, not "oh my freaking God Cindy Crawford was there! CINDY CRAWFORD!" just, "ehh, it's alright." The hotel doesn't "offically" open until December 12, so they do have some time to work out the kinks, and there are (apparently) some kinks. From Hotel Chatter.com

So far, guests have posted four reviews, averaging out at a 3.5 (out of five) overall rating. Though the hotel is living up to its "so stylish it hurts hype," guests are still feeling the growing pains of a three-week-old hotel. Here's a snippet of our favorite comments so far, ranging from the satisfied:

So many details of thought are immediately apparent in the design of this hotel. It is clearly a state-of-art building, showcasing the best in the industry. The hotel is very modern, truly a contemporary design dream come true!

to the irritated:

I learn from the first review that the official opening of the hotel is not until December. That would explain the maintenance guys running around doing stuff and finishing off the pool area.

to the downright nitpicky (we can identify):

the towels were those strange cotton towels that feel nice to the touch, but just seem to move the water around. The bathroom and halls smelled of rotten eggs---seems to be a ventilation problem. One elevator was out of service and there was no lighting in the spa/workout room one morning.

I love PR releases

Not like the new Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego had ANYTHING to do with this release.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, the nightlife impresario behind the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego's two luxury lounges, Sweetwater Saloon and Moonstone Lounge, were in San Diego this past weekend checking out and dining at the ultra-hip property. The Hard Rock Hotel San Diego recently opened its doors on November 1.

Not that we care, you know, cause it's only like she's a supermodel who at one time single handidly made us drink Pepsi. And then she married Randy Gerber and she now gets to party around at his clubs, go her. She was probably at the club lap dancing that man, oooo weee. Not that we care.
