A Girls Guide to Sports: The San Diego Chargers have continued winning even though my computer is broken

Spoke to my Dad yesterday, it went like this:

"So your team won."
"They did?"
"Yep, they sure did."
"What does that mean?"
"They are in the playoffs. It means they get to play more games to figure out if they go to the Superbowl."
"So they could go to the Superbowl?"
"Yep, they could, just like I could win the lottery."

From Boston.com:

[The Chargers] broke a 13-year playoff drought with a 17-6 win over the Tennessee Titans yesterday, justifying the team's coaching change after last season, and more strongly validating the careers of players such as LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson and Norv Turner, the coach who replaced Marty Schottenheimer, briefly celebrated the success but quickly turned their attention to next week's visit to Indianapolis.

Lines for the sports bar:

We're on our way to the Superbowl, I just know it!
They got a tough game against Indy next week, hopefully they can keep up the playoff momentum.
Looks like our offense is starting to pay off.
Go Chargers!!!!

Week in review: Hodge Podge Part Deux

Another "I'm on vacation" hodge podge:

Guest Blogger Toni Valdez escapes from LA.

JLo actually did confirm her pregnancy at her "last stop" on her tour in Miami (after she went and cancelled her rescheduled show in San Diego), got it?

The City Council decided you can't drink on the beach any more.

The Pearl Hotel finally got to me (actually Street finally got me to want to go to The Pearl Hotel).

Switchfoot has a song for download.

And we need to get us a sports writer.

We need to get us a Sports Writer

Suddenly dawns on me that I skip over all that "sports stuff" in my diehard nitty gritty re-reporting of news. And here I am at home visiting my parents where I spend Sunday and Monday night watching football when I think "hey, we do have sports that go on in San Diego, don't we?"

I must admitt I go to games for mostly beer and hot dogs, but I'm sure there are people out there curious about the San Diego Sportsy scene. Hence my attempt. My I present to you "the reason why the Chragers had such a sucky game the other day" from MSNBC.

The Chargers were without three key defensive starters by the time Peterson rounded right end for his 64-yard touchdown with 12 minutes, 55 seconds left in the third quarter.

"Adrian is outstanding, but we thought we could handle him, and we did in the first half," said Chargers defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell, who held the same position with the Vikings in 2004-05. "What happened in the second half is Castillo got hurt. That really hurt us."
