I like this article from the San Diego Business Journal (or what I will forever refer to as “The San Diego Little Black Book of Rich Dudes) as it informs all San Diegans that ONLY three SD residents managed to make the 2007 Forbes 400 list of richest Americans.

Just three. ONLY three billionaires (you heard it right, BILLIONAIRES) got on the list. I demand a RECOUNT.

The richest local person is Charles Brandes, ranked No. 165 by Forbes with an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion. Brandes is the founder and chairman of Brandes Investment Partners, a Carmel Valley money management firm with more than $100 billion under management.

Also ranked on the Forbes 400 is Ernest Rady at No. 220, with a net worth of $2.1 billion. The lowest seeded San Diegan by Forbes, at No. 271, is Ted Waitt…

Poor Waitt coming in at #3 for SD and #271 on the list… at only 1.8 billion. Don’t worry Waitt, they are finally building some affordable housing downtown.
