Holy Cow (yep, it deserves a HOLY COW)
Behold an aerial view of the buildings that make up the Coronado Naval Amphibian Base (built almost 40 years ago) out on Coronado Island.
Apparently when they figured it out they went "well it's not like people can just go flying over and see it, so no biggie."
But then Google invented Google Earth and...
Conspiracy Theorists click here if you want more.
*Update*
Checked out NBC San Diego
The U.S. Navy will spend as much as $600,000 to modify the appearance of a barracks complex that resembles a swastika from the air, officials said.
Well that didn't take long... 40 years or so...

Because Street Scene needs ANOTHER person saying it should be downtown where it belongs
Well, San Diego City Beat gathered all the information, ran all the tests and made it official: Festivals are dying because America just ain't ready for that kind of fun.
I beg to differ, as a Northern Californian who has family members that plan their year around Festival Season and who often tell me "sorry I'm booked up the next 25 weekends because of Festivals."
But, this all goes back to Street Scene.
I have mixed feelings, which I have been attempting to reserve for conversations with my husband about how I managed to make it an OG Street Scene and how cool that makes me. And I am one of those complainy people who believes that Street Scene belongs downtown, in the street, screw it if it doesn't make logistical sense.
I digress. City Beat provides a nice recap of what went down with the changes in (Not)Street Scene and how downtown wooed it, loved it, dated it and promptly dumped it once it felt good enough about it self not to need it.
From a business standpoint, it was a good move. Street Scene pulled in a record 105,000 people in two days, breaking its own record of 100,000, set back in 2001. Unfortunately, downtown San Diego was experiencing a similar explosion. As one insider explains, "The business owners used to welcome [Street Scene]. But once downtown was revitalized, it really hurt businesses. The Chamber [of Commerce] and the Gaslamp Association started to galvanize against the event."
Downtown San Diego, in essence, no longer needed Street Scene's brand of public relations. Conveniently, the area's development also meant there was no room for a festival of its size. Squeezed out of the Gaslamp, Street Scene moved to Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley for 2005 and 2006. While Hagey and his production company did an admirable job of transforming the venue--and the stadium's expansive parking lot made for easy stage-to-stage access--many fans grumbled, calling it "Parking Lot Scene."
Hagey was roundly rejected. Reports in the Union-Tribune made it seem as if he were one instigative chuckle from being laughed out of the room. Committee member Vicki Granowitz was quoted as saying, "You couldn't pay the park enough to have this event."
Come on San Diego, embrace your crowded scenes... I probably won't go even if does move back to downtown... cause it's too crowded... and I'm too old but STILL...

Maybe this is the purpose of life?
"Because of budget cuts to local HIV/AIDS programs in recent years, the AIDS Walk is vital to the more than 16,000 HIV-affected individuals in San Diego County."Over the past four years, San Diego County has lost more than $1.5 million in government funding for HIV/AIDS services," Loose said. "It's clear that the dollars raised at AIDS Walk are especially important."
Just $35 the day of will get you registered and ready to go. A beautiful walk around Balboa Park which benefits needed programs all over the city? Win/ Win. Check the site for more info.

A late night doo da
What is the point of life?
Sheesh banner ad, I was just trying to get some information about an activity going on in our fair city and it’s after midnight, just so you know.
Is forgiveness possible?
Hey now, I’m all for late night conversational spring boards, sitting on the floor of your dorm room, debating the greater good and all that, but COME ON, I’m just trying to read a little Daily Aztec.
Is there a conflict between science and Christianity?
Holy crap. Look I’m trying to get some stuff done before I sit down and watch an episode of Bird Man with my husband. Sheesh…
But I clicked, so I guess the ad worked.
In case you were wondering it took me here. They have a class I can take… it will tell me the point of life.

The Artist formerly known as Street Scene OR Street Diddy
And here is a place to nominate/ rename Street Scene to what it should be called since it's not on the Street nor much of a Scene... lately. (Unless you count all those people writing about how much fun the artists tent was. Yeah people, we get it, it's much more fun to hang out with artists then us regular people paying $8 for water).

Don't worry, there's always next year...
The San Diego Chamber of Commerce released their list of the 10 best San Diegans and since I wasn't eligible this year due to not living IN San Diego (for now) I get why I'm not on it.
Voice of San Diego went ahead and posted the "Top 10" and then posted the update about how the Chamber of Commerce wants everyone to know it's not in fact a "Top 10" except they apparently called it a "Top 10" or something...
So you got that David Letterman, this is NOT a Top 10. This is just a list of 10 people in San Diego who are "tops."

Guest Blogger/ Photographer James Duren does not live in the Bay Area (thank God, cause we like him here).
My San Diego is not the Bay area. It is not LA. It is not Sacramento, nor is it San Jose. It isn’t Napa Valley. It isn’t the Central Valley. It isn’t Imperial Valley.
My San Diego is the Golden State’s great anomaly.
Our city is spread across open land like change spread out and counted by kids ready to cash in on their allowance. L.A. is thick . San Francisco is crammed. San Diego stretches its arms as though it were waking from a nap.
There is a Little Mogadishu, but you won’t find it in Lonely Planet or Fodor’s. There are the intersections in City Heights where burkas and bunta are the standard fair. Apartments are cheap. Traditions are not. Diversity is king. Men stand in front of temples.
My San Diego is the peeling plastic on the corner of the place mat that sits underneath my sponge bread and seasoned chicken at the Red Sea in City Heights. It is the framed reprint of Haile Selassie. It is the sweet recognition of difference as we walk in the back door of this treasure, met by the unassuming glances of regulars.
There is a Little Italy that you’ll find in both Lonely Plant and Fodor’s. The burkas and bunta are replaced by Calvin Klein and cappuccinos. The apartments are expensive. Traditions are not. Diversity is fashion. Men stand in front of cafes.
My San Diego is the bitter crema drying on the inside of my tiny LeVazza mug, the remnants of a fine espresso. It is the framed photographs of a whimsical European cafés. It is the disarming recognition of friendship as we walk past the yellow house of the Pecoraros. Nic sits on the front porch and we are met by his unassuming glances.
There is the rustic swank of Coronado, separated from the bittersweet pallor of Imperial Beach by a lonely stretch of road; separated from the fierce and proud communities of South San Diego by an the elegant curve of the Coronado Bridge.
San Diego is also hurting. It’s Mogadishus and Darfurs are secrets. They are hidden in canyons. They are away from freeways. Its Vietnamese are not the Little Saigon's of other cities. If you don’t look carefully, all you will see is white.
My city is the Golden State’s great anomaly. It is a hidden city and a famous city. Its people are decidedly private and proudly public. Its colors are on pallets hidden from the tourist’s eye.
I love my people, my city.
James Duren tell us about himself:
Despite moving around a lot when I was younger, I have been a San Diego resident for over 16 years. I have had the opportunity to attend high school, college, and graduate school in San Diego. My favorite parts of town are Little Italy, La Jolla, and the Adams Ave. district. Aside from writing, I also run my own photography business called Beauty Truth Photography. As for literature, I love biographies and anything by Ernest Hemingway.

And now for the short list of guys you should marry for the money, Tell Waitt he was your first choice he'll be flattered...
I like this article from the San Diego Business Journal (or what I will forever refer to as “The San Diego Little Black Book of Rich Dudes) as it informs all San Diegans that ONLY three SD residents managed to make the 2007 Forbes 400 list of richest Americans.
Just three. ONLY three billionaires (you heard it right, BILLIONAIRES) got on the list. I demand a RECOUNT.
Also ranked on the Forbes 400 is Ernest Rady at No. 220, with a net worth of $2.1 billion. The lowest seeded San Diegan by Forbes, at No. 271, is Ted Waitt…
Poor Waitt coming in at #3 for SD and #271 on the list… at only 1.8 billion. Don’t worry Waitt, they are finally building some affordable housing downtown.

A You Tube Day
I rarely play around with You Tube (seriously. Okay, so I've been known to view a intimidating chipmunk or two, maybe an over crazed Britney fan, or a Sesame Street mash up but I am not a You Tube peruser by nature). Once my friends' son came over and played on You Tube for over four hours, looking up whatever crossed his mind (most of that involved Pokemon).
But this weekend I decided to take a bit of a San Diego You Tube tour where by I found a few interesting things, not the least of which was the tendency to put images of San Diego to cheezy 80's jazz easy listening music.
Skeptical as I was, I found myself watching the following video with... wait for it... a tear in my eye. Maybe it's Bon Jovi, maybe it's that he's thanking San Diego for loving him and he REALLY MEANS IT. Whatever it is... I didn't make it all the way through before I decided watching videos of a beautiful San Diego when I am currently in exile from said San Diego is NOT what one should do with their Sunday... unless they are a glutton for punishment... or they want to have their musical moment while in pajamas with a rerun of Monk on the TV.
*tear* oh God let's not start this again...

Just another reason I think they should give bloggers press passes...
Held in the Gaslamp Quarter — San Diego's premier entertainment district — San Diego Film Festival (SDFF) is a competitive four-day fest that offers attendees a 360 festival experience. whether it’s a relaxing day of film and a night of parties, or catching a workshop and hitting a conference to learn from the pros, no single day is like another at SDFF. The Festival features more than 100 American and international feature, documentary, short films and music videos; intimate filmmaker and celebrity gatherings; industry panels and the American Screenwriters Association's annual conference; in addition to four nights of San Diego's most glamorous parties.
Of course I checked out said event schedule and they have a nice long list of who exactly access is granted to for all these great parties. I'll be the person standing outside going "hey is that? I totally voted for you!" And then Joaquin Phoenix (who was apparently there last year, so he could be there again, he could be) in all his *allegedly* slightly drugged up glory will notice me, wonder about my inquisitive eyes and whisk me away to the VIP party of my life.
I noticed there is a special Native American film section but was disheartened to find that there were no Native Films this year. We're gonna have to work on that one.

About that Stadium Scene thing that happened this weekend
If you're wondering how Street Scene went UT's Entertainment Blog STREET has a pretty comprehensive breakdown of all things scene (get it, "SEEN"). They seemed to have like reporting from the field, cause you got videos and whozits and what-its galore.
Seemed to go pretty well, despite some light rain (of which I'm sure most San Diegans flipped out over. OOOO there is water falling from the sky! And Traffic Jam!).
I include this video for your pleasure. We'll talk about my weekend You Tube perusing later. But according to this guy from You Tube MUSE is the best in the west and here they are rocking it at Street Scene '07.

Take my word for it...
Students at some universities are being asked to complete an online alcohol training program before they start school.
Intervention programs, like San Diego (California) University Research Foundation's E-Chug, instead hope to change students' risky behavior.
Students seem a little unsure of how they feel about the online program, some say it taught them important things about alcohol intake and some say it has no bearing on their decision making whatsoever.
“I learned some stuff about alcohol that I didn’t know,” Smith said. “It did not affect how or what I drank. I believe drinking is about common sense and being responsible.”
Oh really young padawan learner? Sense not so common when involved the drink is. Trust me.

Here comes Street Scene, only it's not on the street... only kind of a scene
Street Scene was the first big San Diego event I went to when I moved to America's Finest City. I didn't know what to expect. In fact I wore my cutest black, high heeled boots to the event. And then proceeded to have the best time of my life (going stage to state, place to place, and making a quick stop off at the techno rave tent) and finally ending the night with a "I can't feel my toes" hailing a cab and going home.
Needless to say, I too miss the old street scene.
New new street scene is this weekend at the Coors Ampitheatre. Perhaps they'll find themselves a new home...

San Diego gets it...
The San Diego City Council joined "other California cities" in supporting same sex marriage by supporting a lawsuit that challenges the same sex ban. (LA, Santa Cruz, San Jose and Long Beach are the others in the coalition of the willing)
The mayor plans to veto.
The City Council plans to give the mayor exasperated looks and be generally silent at dinner answering the "what's wrong" question with a quick "nothing," followed by "it's just that you never support me and care about the things I care about... and you hate my hair. I know you hate my hair!"

My San Diego: Smooth, Sensual and Salty
Joseph DePuy
Artist/Painter
Northwest Clairemont
My San Diego is sensual, smooth, and salty! What’s not to love about why most people reside here, that beautiful salty place we call the ocean, those lovely little salty snacks called Edamame we find in the sushi houses that line Convoy street, or running the trails of Rose Canyon that was occupied by American Indians and then Mexican ranchers, of course I get a little sweaty and salty.
I feel pretty smooth riding my old bike with limited brakes in the mossy water canals along the I-5 and watching Pelicans fly along the coastline in La Jolla, wow those birds are as smooth as butter, you know? What’s a day without going to the UCSD library, not only one of the most amazing examples of stunning architecture in the city, but also an on point art department where I do a lot of concept research.
Oh and sensual, Tacos of course. I love tacos T.J. style. Rolling over to Los Palmitos in Clairemont for some asada, or oh Tacos El Gordo in Chula Vista for cabeza, and the taco truck that's in Joes 99 cent store parking lot in Linda Vista for some delicious adobada, yum.
How about the sensual swing of the suspension bridge in Bankers Hill, I used to drink beers there when I was a kid, wait, retract that I still do sometimes. Incredible view and feel to that historic bridge. Finally the view from the Glider Port south of Torrey Pines. It has amazing trails, gliders and birds and occasional jets whipping by overhead, a great place to hang out without alot of people around. Really sensual, smooth, and salty!!!!!
Joseph DePuy is a self taught painter who spent five years traversing the globe working in the music industry. The exposure to such a wide variety of cultures had a huge impact on his art and inspired him to research and explore other cultures and ideas foreign to the west.
You can catch his work at the Oceanside Museum of Art Oma Regional 5 opening September 23 – November 11. (One of 20 San Diego artists selected by a distinguished panel of jurors!) or at the Brand 36 National Juried Exhibition in Glendale, opening October 6 – November 15.

What you know you've been looking for...
My brother and I were addicted to "The Making of Thriller". We watched the damn video all the time, from the humble Mickey Mouse shirt wearing beginning of Michael as he learned the dance moves to the final yellow contact lenses and wolf makeup. We knew the music, we had the all important "claw hands to the air" dance move DOWN... but never managed to master the all important choreography. Oh but if YOU TUBE was around back then. Kids these days don't know how lucky they got it.
On another/ yet the same note. They are planning a world wide thriller dance off... I' m not even kidding. You know the Philippines Prison group will be there. Check out the plea for San Diego to get their team together. If you're feeling like being the leader to greatness, you should get a hold of them.
And scared!

And in "Transfer doesn't need an award, we just KNOW they rule" news
The San Diego Music Awards were tonight. As I am currently not able to attend the local music scene event... I had to read the live blog done on signonsandiego's blog Street. Maybe it's just the jaded existance of the lucky person who gets paid to live blog the awards, but it felt as if there was a certain excitement missing... come on JASON MRAZ, that's quality progamming and an OUTLET SHOPPING MALL?! (Perhaps sign on doesn't allow for excessive beer consumption whilst live blogging, which is a tragedy in itself).
Anyway, the list of winners is here.
After party is probably still moving on through the fast lane (I don't know what that means, I'm getting old and it's past my bed time). Somebody buy Transfer a shot for me, tell them I voted for 'em...

*posting is not intended to goad anonymous. Editors acknowledge we are PB heavy in our best of San Diego answers, but it's mostly because we lived in PB and think that it is high time PB have a reputation for some good neighborhood joints (besides the ones that involve a college kid throwing up in the back, or an overly dressed up 40 year old hitting on said college kid). We encourage anonymous to submit his/her own best of San Diego list, and we'll publish it. Yep, we will. Join the poop anonymous... give us your best #2! Part III: Everything Turquoise AGAIN
Best College Bar : Man, when was the last time I went to a college bar. I guess PB Bar and Grill, there seems to be a lot of college goers there.
Best Dance Club : Actually, I quite like The 5th Quarter, which I think is now called Whiskey Girl? Something like that. They have a good stage to lounge and dance on, yeah, this one time… (well anyway, they also play Bon Jovi sometimes, COME ON! Who could ask for anything more?)
Best Neighborhood Bar: The Turquoise (AKA Café Bar Europa). It single handedly MAKES North PB THE neighborhood to live in.
Best Downtown Bar : Pretty soon there’ll be a Turquoise down there (so I’ve heard). I won’t go there, but still.
Best Happy Hour: (Well the hour I had with your Mom last… stop it, just stop it) Man I gotta call my friend Vanessa, she would totally know the answer to this one.
Best North County Bar : And she’d know the answer to this one too.
Best Brewery : And probably this one too
Best Pub : The Blarneystone, Clairemont Shopping Center (next to Vons). Seriously, a pub in a shopping center and it’s actually REALLY fun (especially when they start peer pressuring you to down your drink).
Best Pick-up spot : The West End, tail end of Turquoise Street. Trust me. Ripe, for, the picking…
Best Upscale Bar: The Turquoise… it’s every kind of bar.
Best Cocktails: The Turquoise has this one martini called The Turquoise.. RULES.
Best Dive Bar: The West End (it’s DIVE man… but worth it)

Part II: If I leave it blank it means I don’t want to play favorites with all my favorite classical music groups and all ages venues…
Best Art Museum: Museum of Contemporary Art Downtown BECAUSE that’s the first place Lori and I ever saw Transfer play (Thursday Night Thing, GO THERE). But if we’re not considering Transfer in the answering of all questions (and how could we not?!) then I’m going to say the Art Institute of San Diego Museum, there are some talented folks studying round these parts.
Best Non-art Museum : Oh man do I want to write the Museum of your Mom, but I’m going to be serious and go with the Natural History Museum.
Best Museum for Kids Natural History Museum... and I’m not just saying that because it’s really the only Museum I’ve been to that’s not an art museum.
Best Movie Theater It’s definitely the one at Mission Valley Center, and not because it provides for the best movie experience but because seriously most of the times I went there it provided for the best ENTERTAINMENT experience. Take the time I saw a guy bitch slap this teenage kid for kicking the back of his seat and insulting his girlfriend. Plus the kid had been periodically throwing AOL CD’s at the screen and giggling about it. So when he got all bitch slapped by some 40 year old guy the entire theatre started CLAPPING while the teenage kids went whining out of the theatre with their cell phones out. “Yeah, call Daddy for your ride home” someone yelled. That was the ONLY thing that made watching “The Grudge” bearable. So maybe it should be nominated for “Best Movie Theatre to watch a not so great remake of a Japanese Horror Movie.”
Best Large Concert Venue : I like Viejas, but I don’t know if that’s quite “large” enough.
Best Music Store : So I download…

Part 1: (Yes, there's parts!) Everything Turquoise...
RESTAURANTS
Best Romantic : The Coronado one my now husband took me to on our first date. It over looks downtown San Diego and makes chocolate lava cake that puts you into such a chocolate fantasy haze you go out and marry the guy four months later. Alright, one Google search and confirmation with my husband later: Peohe’s
Best Italian : Rafaela’s (and we will soon feature Rafaela’s all on its own).
Best Chinese : Panda Country Restaurant on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. (Go North Clairemont!) It got to the point that I’d go in there during lunch and the owner lady would go “orange chicken?” Yeah lady, orange chicken.
Best Mexican : Jesus Christ it’s San Diego, it’s all good Mexican Food. The best is Cotixan’s on Genesee.
Best Seafood :
Best Thai : There’s this one place, it’s on Convoy street. I think it’s called Thai Palace. But you really can’t go wrong heading to Convoy Street for the good Asian eats. Like they have this one spicy Chinese restaurant, which by the way, is SPICY (so warned).
Best Pizza : Pizza Chicago Pacific Beach and not just because we sat out on the deck, drank a gallon of beer and ended up passing out on the beach for two hours after that.
Best Vegetarian Menu : That would be, Spread? Is that the name of it??? Lori and I went there once and if that actually IS the name of it I totally missed an opportunity to make very lewd jokes while at dinner.
Best Steaks: Lori doesn’t eat red meat and the rest of the time I lived in SD I was on a writer’s salary.
Best Brunch Lips, Gospel Brunch… not the food but the all you can drink mimosa’s and hot Drag Queens…
Best Budget Dining : The Café Bar Europa
Best Late-night Dining : The Café Bar Europa
Best Family Dining : at your mom’s house. I’m sorry, the joke was bound to work its way in there at some point and gimme some credit this is TAME by industry standards (the industry of bad your mom jokes that is). Perhaps the family dining at your Mom’s house really is the best… I know your Mom was last night (sorry I did it again, forgive me).
Best Hotel Restaurant : The Marriott in Coronado has a good restaurant buffet that’s outdoors and everything. Great views of downtown San Diego too.
Best Coffee Shop Café 976 on Cass Street. Take dates there, you know the ones that insist on the “I want to have coffee and see if you’re worth a real date” dates, because it’s pretty there and because then you can make them buy you nicely priced good food… so there we’re actually on a REAL DATE any way! (And girls, tip, don’t keep dating that guy. Find the guy that really DATES you… it does happen.)
Best Fine Dining : WRITERS salary
Best Dessert : That could quite possibly be the chocolate lava cake I mentioned before. However, Extraordinary Desserts in Little Italy and Hillcrest, that’s an experience. Though it kind of looks like Ikea sponsored the one downtown… man… is that some good cake.
Best Catering : The last party I had catered was done by Vanessa, she’s excellent. You should hire her for sure (except she’s mine!)
Best French: The French Gourmet, also best croissants, best chocolate croissants, best am and cheese croissants, best shortbread cookies (they also made my wedding cake which was the best). Man I miss San Diego eating.
Best Japanese/Sushi Surprisingly there is a Sushi place in this little shopping center across the street from the original Rubio’s on Mission Bay Drive, however I DO NOT know the name. I typed it in to Google and came up with Sushi Ota. A beautiful Japanese gal (my technical step mother in law) took me there. So it got that stamp of approval. You really can’t judge a book by its cover as it is located right next to a 7-11 and across the street from my old gynecologists office (seriously!). When my husband and I showed up he immediately said something like “what is my Dad thinking?! We can go get something else after this if you want.” But, ya burnt Husband! as the sushi was very good.
Best New Restaurant : I haven’t been back in a year… oh god I’m gonna cry.
Best Buffet : Writer’s Salary so I never had the chance to experience the buffet at the Hotel Del, but I’ve heard rumblings that it’s pretty darn good.
Best Tapas That would be Café Bar Europa or “The Turquoise.” (Look, we used to hang there all the time. The bartenders are hilarious and low key, the chef is friendly and likes to experiment with this choices for the menu, the menu is reasonably priced, the atmosphere is excellent, the live music rocks, and the owner is hilarious. I took first dates there, had birthday parties there (they provided pink balloons!), celebrated holidays (really important ones like Mardi Gras), did my engagement dinner and wedding reception there… I’m not trying to give away the secret to a good time in San Diego (because at one point word of mouth got around and the place got SO popular on Friday and Saturday night, I stopped going for fear of being rubbed down by one of the many sweaty bar guys you usually only find in downtown PB. This bar/ restaurant/ café RULES).
Best Indian That would be Café Bar… okay just kidding. Never really did the Indian food thing.
Best Greek A big fat question mark from yours truly.
Best Breakfast The Mission in Mission Beach. Rosemary Potatoes…
End of part I. Will work on the next segment. Sheesh, Sign on San Diego sure does expect a lot from their readers!

Subaru's Urban Assault... huh huh, she said Ass...
On “obstacles”:
This is what the race is famous for! Teams must complete challenges at each checkpoint. These will be physical and mental challenges that will take 5 minutes on average per checkpoint. They may include adult big wheels, obstacles on foot, scooters, BMX bikes, slip N slides, bouncy balls, ropes, kayaks, balance, or other craziness. When planning obstacles, we take into account people who have fear of water, heights, speed, knee and back injuries. You can always sit out an obstacle and take a time penalty.
If you’re super interested in jumping in and participating you might want to contact this guy, he’s looking for a partner, seriously, no funny stuff… well maybe a little funny stuff. (via craigslist).

San Diego Music Awards: Vote Transfer!
We are shameless Transfer Hussies…
The San Diego Music Awards are on September 17, 2007. I voted for Transfer (because they love me, well okay they love everybody) and Anya Marina (cause she’s cute. I once saw her at this bar and I went all "oh my God you're Anya Marina, I saw you play once and you were so good." I stopped just shy of asking her to autograph my boob, thank God).
Until then, hit up the Acoustic Show on September 14 @ Clare De Lune from 7:00pm-12:30am. Lori and I went a while ago and guess what, it was really fun. A few quick tips:
1. if you get a seat, keep the seat.
2. Bring someone who is good at saving seats (preferably not Kid Rock as we all know where that leads).
3. Order some cake, they have good desserts there. Don’t worry if you have no idea who any one is (we didn’t) you’ll soon hear your favorites and they are bound to pop up again (It is San Diego after all).

Kid Pebble talks Rock...
Turns out they did.
And then Tommy Lee wrote some blog about Kid Pebble and how he don't know nothing about nothing, so there!
Of course Kid Rock took the high road, he does have an album coming out, yo, and he doesn't need to be yakking on and on about his beef with some "45 year old man" (Tommy Lee made it to 45! Congrats Tommy Lee...
Except that today he yakked on and on (on a San Diego station, 105.3, The Mikey Show) ... because you know, he doesn't need to be talking about it but he's got an album coming out in October and it's the best album ever and yeah, he punched Tommy Lee... so there.
After ALL the speculation here is the real reason that these two hard ass Rockers got into the bitch slap fest o' the century:
And then when I came back from the bathroom he’s pretty much sitting in my seat, I’m like that’s it. He’s sitting right next to it yea.
DO NOT mess with KID ROCK'S SEAT... he called place back, yo. PLACE BACK!

Dumping out the change jar... San Diego in the News
According to this incredibly ill timed article (considering my husband and I are counting our quarters so we can get a smoothie, yes a smoothie is NECESSARY) 5 million is the new one million.
Yep, you heard it here first folks, one million is like “oh really, you have one million dollars, how cute is that?”
From the article: “It can be said that the new $1 million is $5 million,” said Ajay Gupta, vice president, wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch in San Diego. “We’ve seen a lot more $5 million net worth families than before.” (Who are they and are they adopting?!)
I don’t know if I’m going to take this guys word for it. Mostly because when I lived in San Diego I started to get just a little jaded about proper housing prices. I once stopped on by a neighborhood open house for a small, two bedroom Spanish style bungalow about four blocks from the beach… no parking. “It’s only 989,000 dollars,” I said. Pssh, any fool can scrape up 989,000… let me start counting my quarters.

Just another enabler: Best of San Diego 2007
Nobody wants me to nominate in Sign On San Diego’s Best of poll. Was just trying to do it here but it turns out that you need to “enable” cookies on your computer to do it. The website shook its finger at me and said “go enable your cookies and try again.”
Man, pushy website. SOOOO sorry that my cookies aren’t enabled enough for you. I try to live my life not being an enabler… hello co-dependency. All of a sudden cookies are sitting on a dirty couch in the crack den demanding to be included in every website search “gimme my search, give it to me! I need it!”
Anyway, like I said, I’m trying to participate in the nominations as if I’m some sort of expert on the Best Pick Up Spot (in case you’re wondering I’m gonna go with The West End on Turquoise Street because this one time…) I am however keenly aware of the Best Local Band (that would be THESE GUYS). The more you read, the more you will understand how obsessed Lori and I were/ are with Transfer. By the way, they love me.
Will work on my nominations and let you know. I'll probably post them later. Maybe you can be total copy cats and vote the same as me…. peer pressure… everyone likes Transfer, everybody!
You can nominate The Best Of San Diego from September 13 – September 27 (enable your cookies!).
